We are pleased to announce the launch of the EASP Early-Career Researcher Award. The award aims to select the best research articles and support PhD students and early-career scholars publishing their work in academic journals. Each award will include a prize of HK 3,000 awarded by a selection committee of the EASP Executive Board. All winners will be encouraged and assisted in preparing their papers for submission to peer-reviewed journals, such as the Journal of Asian Public Policy, Journal of International and Comparative Social Policy, and Urban Governance.
Two Award Categories: The EASP Early-Career Researcher Award includes one prize for PhD students and one for early-career scholars, i.e., postdocs, lecturers, assistant professors or equivalent positions within the first three years of their first academic employment.
To be eligible for the award, potential applicants are invited to submit a full research paper to the EASP annual conference. Applicants must indicate their wish to be included in the awarding procedure when submitting their papers to the conference. Applicants are free to choose their subject, cases/territories/countries, theoretical perspective, methods, and discipline, but their submissions should deal with the social policy of the East Asian (including Northeast and Southeast Asian) countries.
Submission process
Prize applicants must submit their papers at the conference website (https://www.easp-fiss-2024.com/) by the submission deadline, indicating that they would want to be considered for the prize when submitting. Submissions should include a separate MS Word document containing the paper’s title and abstract (no more than 250 words) and the article’s main text.
Assessment procedure
All submissions will be evaluated by the EASP selection committee based on the following criteria:
- scholarly interest and originality of the manuscripts
- analytical and methodological rigour
- writing quality and structural coherence of arguments
The selection committee will evaluate and make their decision in mid-May 2024. The winning author(s) must participate in the EASP conference to present their papers. A formal announcement of the prize-winner(s) at the award ceremony will take place at the annual EASP conference in June.
Please note that subject to the quality of the submitted papers, the subcommittee will decide on the number of awardees and reserves the right to make a final decision in case of any dispute arising.
